WordPress Theme: Ornamental Black
The themes found here on ArtyBlogs are all graphics-based reworkings of the default WordPress theme, “Kubrick”… The standard images from that theme have been spruced up a bit and re-designed, to give your blog or site a more interesting look. The two column layout is the same as it always was but, as you’ll no doubt see throughout this site, some of the designs can be quite dramatic.
Due to only a small amount of cosmetic changes to the code, each theme should work with all versions of WordPress — from 1.5 to 2.0 and 2.1 onwards. There are no “bells & whistles” like those found in many other themes, but you can rest assured that the themes found here will work just as well as the default theme in a cleanly installed WordPress blog.
Latest Theme: Ornamental Black
Not overly complex, yet the illustrative nature adds a bit of punch to a standard layout, this classic theme, in shades of black and white, provides an elegant and clean look, with just enough decorative detail to add interest to your blog.

Hi! I’d like to use this theme as a base (if you visit my site in this moment I’m working on it to customize it!) but I’m having problems in deciding what is being displayed in the sidebar.
I’d like the search field to disappear for instance, and I’d like to add some other titles, which I saw you have enclosed in the theme images, but which I’m not able to make appear.
I am using the sidebar widget you made, but if I add titles from there, they don’t use your nice images but only the default font.
What should I do to make those changes?
Thank you very much !

Rather than use the default ArtyBlogs Graphical Sidebar Widget, just pick and choose each individual widget you might want, then upload those to your blog and enable them. That way you can skip the search box or the archives, links or anything else you wish.
Keep in mind that these widgets ONLY work on our themes — because you need to have all the images in your theme’s image folder. However there is a couple of ways that you can use them on other themes.
The easy way is to just download one of our themes which has a complimentary color scheme to the one you are currently using. Then all you need to do is add the sidebar images you want to have into the image folder of your theme. Enable our widgets and they should work (I stress “should”. I haven’t tested this yet but I will do so soon).
The second way is a little more involved — but not that much. Download one of our themes as above. Unzip and open the images folder and take note of the file name of the images you want to use. Also take note of the dimensions of the images. If you have a graphics program like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements or Paintshop then you can create your own images, with your own custom text using the same dimensions and file name. Upload your new graphics and enable the corresponding widgets. That’s it!
